Meat Recipies

Lip Smackin' Pulled Pork

Nothing shouts BBQ like pulled pork. This recipe should knock the socks off your friends and family. Boston Butt, or Pork Shoulder Roast is a cut of meat that can be tough if not prepared right.

First, the meat needs a gentle rubbing with the spice blend of your choice. Several options are available elsewhere on this site. Letting these spices do their magic for 2 hours to overnight in a plastic bag is helpful.

For those of you with a Smoker, 8-12 hours until an internal temperature of 190 will to the trick. For the rest of us, set your oven to 275 and place your shoulder roast in a pan covered with foil or in a dutch oven of cast iron. Let your butt roast for 6-10 hours or until an internal temperature of 180-190 is reached. Now it's done. The meat should just fall apart. Shred while hot (Heavy duty rubber gloves makes this easier) and mix in Dr. Dan's BBQ Sauce and Magical Meat Elixir to taste. Some serve this plain on a bun letting others add the sauce at the table. Others mix in lots to serve 'pre-treated'. You can serve it as you choose as long as you use Dr. Dan's.
